SPA AGM - Thursday 18th January 2018

Time: 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm

Venue: Southampton University Officers Training Corps, 32 Carlton Place Southampton Hampshire SO15 2DX

Dear Members

This year SPA is holding the AGM at a new venue, one which we suspect few will have been to before, although you may have wondered what lay behind its imposing doors. Built in the 1840s as an indoor riding school the building was acquired by the Hampshire Regiment in the late 19th century and it has remained part of the Army estate ever since. We are therefore very privileged to be allowed to use the premises.

The 2018 AGM is on Thursday 18th January 2018. The format of the evening will be much as usual, drinks and canapés from 5.30 pm, AGM at 6.30 pm followed by three stimulating speakers, so that you can get your CPD hours off to a good start, the evening concluding around 8.00 pm. Please remember to confirm that you will be attending via Eventbrite for security purposes, or you may be refused entry.

https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/spa-agm-2018-tickets-40791413215

As usual there is no charge to members on the evening, although we will be putting a bucket around for Help for Heroes in recognition of all our Armed Forces do to keep us safe.

Finally, should any member wish to put their name forward for the 2018 SPA committee please notify me by email on chrisclark@elgsurveyors.co.uk

As is now customary, there will be a secret ballot of the members present at the AGM. Most importantly, the cut off point this year for applications is 12.00 midnight on 31st December 2017. Sorry, but no late applications will be accepted. You have been warned!

I do hope that you will be able to attend.

Chris Clark BSc FRICS MCIArb

SPA Honorary Secretary

SPA Colour Evening with drinks reception and canapes

Venue: Elizabeth House Hotel, 42-44 The Avenue Southampton Hampshire SO17 1XP

THE SECRET TO LOOKING GOOD IN EVERYTHING YOU WEAR!

Coco Chanel was spot on when she said “the best colour in the world is the one that looks good on you” (interesting for a woman who was always in black and white, but then they were her colours). Of course, we all have more than one colour that suits us, the point is that colour is so powerful that getting it right and getting it wrong makes a huge difference to how good you look and consequently, how good you feel.

Getting your colours right is not just about matching shades with your colouring (hair colour, eye colour and skin tone) however, it’s about matching them with your personality and your style too. Our clothes make a visual statement about us and how we view ourselves. They reinforce our self-image and help to define who we are. So, when we choose colours, in the same way that we choose styles, we make choices based on what we are instinctively drawn to, choices that fit with our individual taste. We are always influenced by fashion, other people, friends, and so on, but our personality is the biggest factor in the clothing choices we make.

Tickets: £20 to include:

Hampshire and IOW Property & Construction Dinner

Time: 7:00 pm to 11:30 pm

Venue: Southampton Football Club Ltd, Friends Provident St. Marys Stadium Britannia Road Southampton Hampshire SO14 5FP

Steve Davis OBE will entertain you at our Annual Dinner.

This popular Black Tie dinner on the professional social calendar provides an ideal opportunity to entertain guests and network with fellow professionals in the property and construction sectors.

You and your guests will enjoy a sumptuous three course meal and coffee together with an extensive wine list and bar facilities in the luxurious Mike Channon Suite, located in the heart of St Mary’s Stadium.

You will be entertained by Steve Davis OBE. The legend started over 40 years ago when he first picked up a cue to play on the dining room table at his parents’ home in south London. What followed was the development of a sporting phenomenon who took snooker to new heights and established himself as one of Britain’s best loved sportsmen. Steve has become not only a leading snooker pundit and commentator but also an accomplished and highly entertaining after-dinner speaker. In this latter role he definitely belies his ‘Interesting’ reputation, a nickname on which the title of his autobiography is based.

You can also take part in our Charity Raffle from which LionHeart and a local charity will benefit. Details will be confirmed soon.

St Mary’s Stadium benefits from being in a central location in Southampton, providing easy access to transport facilities and overnight hotel accommodation.

Exciting opportunities exist to sponsor this event – please contact Margaret Cameron at macameron@rics.org or call Margaret on 01962 883 751.
