Fantastic amount raised for two worthy charities..

5th February 2018

After the successful Property Gala Dinner held in October 2017 the amount raised was a fantastic £7,346.50 which will be split between two charities; Smile4Wessex and NewstrAid - the charities and Chair of SPA had this to say:

“It was my great privilege to attend the SPA/Southern Daily Echo Ball and we’re hugely grateful to all who contributed to such an enjoyable and successful evening. This very generous donation will benefit the Smile4Wessex Plasma Therapy Appeal, helping to fund the acquisition of technologically advanced Plasma Exchange equipment for the treatment of critically-ill patients suffering from life-threatening neurological disease.

“In addition, the new equipment will enable the Wessex Neurological Centre to establish a dedicated Plasma Therapy Unit where clinicians can treat day-case patients from across the region who are living with a range of long-term neurological conditions that are individually rare, but collectively common. These include such conditions as Neuromyelitis Optica, Myasthenia Gravis and Guillain-Barre syndrome.” - Neil Westbrook – Smile4Wessex Appeals Director

"Huge thank you for allowing us to attend the SPA/Southern Daily Echo Gala Ball and to all that contributed to raising this superb amount. This very generous contribution will benefit our Charity, NewstrAid, which gives support to all those in need in the National and Local Newspaper Distribution and Retail industry and brings the “News” to the reader.

NewstrAid is a registered charity which was founded by Charles Dickens 1839 to give assistance to poor newsvendors.

The local committee is called “Wessex” and consists of 16 members. In addition to raising funds we make regular visits to beneficiaries to deliver benefits and offer assistance with any problems they may have." Mike Bowker NewstrAid Chairman

"It was a real pleasure for the SPA to host yet another successful and enjoyable evening supported by the Daily Echo and to raise such an amazing sum for the two Charities. Enormous thanks to Jo Richardson and Vicky Mant for their hard work on the evening. These events would not happen without them." Denise Bull Chair of the SPA

Keeping checking back for more details on the Summer & Autumn Balls 2018 to be released soon.
