Cricket: SPA v RSM/Ridge

23rd August 2018

On Wednesday evening we completed the 2nd SPA Cricket match of the 2018 summer, this time against a combined RSM/Ridge side, at the Hursely Cricket Club Ground.

Unfortunately, we could only muster 6 players for the match – but what a six!

SPA batted first in what was reduced to a 16 overs per team match due to the fading light. Despite the loss of early wickets, we went on to score a creditable 104 runs. There was then a short break for Pizza’s before we took to the field, supplemented by a sprinkling of opposition players.

Due to some excellent bowling and fielding, and some dodgy umpiring, RSM/Ridge were restricted to somewhere between 95 and 103 runs.

So, a victory for the SPA, and definitely some talent uncovered for next season.

Thanks to Richard Maiden, and Max Smeeth of RSM and Ridge respectively for their efforts in staging the match.
