Chairman's jewel in our 70th Year

9th October 2018

I am pleased to report that Southampton Property Association is in very good health: a vibrant band of 400 property professionals guided by a dedicated and hard working group of officers and committee members.

We are also however, very proud of our long history and in our 70th year we thought it fitting to commemorate our founders. Accordingly the original Chairman's jewel, made in 1959, has been refurbished by the original makers, Toye, Kenning and Spencer and fitted with the name bars of the 45 who served as Chairman of Southampton and District Surveyors, Auctioneers, Valuers and Estate Agents Association (SAVE), from which SPA was created in 1997. Those name bars had been cut off the original ribbon when there became too many to fit and were found in the bottom of the case in which the jewel is kept. It has become the Immediate Past Chair’s jewel, but SPA Chair, Denise Bull, will be giving it a first outing at the SPA Ball, pending receipt of the new Chair’s jewel.

The new SPA Chair's jewel is being commissioned from Toye Kenning in time for the AGM in January and the design has now been produced. We hope you will agree that, in keeping with our ethos, it gives a nod to our history, but with our eyes firmly on the future.
