Dear Member
We are delighted to return once more to the beautiful surroundings of the University Officers’ mess in Carlton Place for the SPA 2024 AGM.
I therefore give formal notice of the 77th Annual General Meeting of Southampton Property Association to be held at 6.30 pm on Monday, 22nd January 2024 at the University of Southampton Officers’ Training Corps building, 32 Carlton Place, Southampton SO15 2DX.
In a departure from the usual programme, proceedings this year will commence with an afternoon CPD seminar from 3.30 pm with Claire Bailey from Savills giving a Commercial Property Update, followed at 4.15 pm with George Long of Charters on the Southampton Census. The customary drinks reception is at 5.30 pm with the AGM at 6.30 pm. Professor Helen Carr of Southampton University will deliver the final CPD talk of the day on the First Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) at 7.00 pm, and we close proceedings with the declaration of the ballot for the 2024 committee. All timings are of course approximate.
There is no charge to members for the afternoon and evening, but because of the sensitivity of the location members need to advise that they are to attend all or part of the day using the Eventbrite link please. Regrettably, we may be unable to admit those who have not done so, or indeed should the number proposing to attend reach the building’s authorised capacity.

A show of hands will be called to vote on the proposal to increase subscriptions by £5 p.a. with effect from 2025, and also a secret ballot for 12 committee places will be held at the AGM and only those members present at the AGM can vote. No proxy votes will be accepted.
A collection for the SPA Benevolent Fund will be made during the evening. The AGM Agenda is enclosed. I do hope you will be able to attend.
Yours sincerely
Chris Clark BSc FRICS MCIArb
