Record attendance at the 72nd SPA AGM

23rd January 2019

A record 80 members turned out on Monday evening for the 72nd Annual General Meeting of Southampton Property Association, held within the delightful Grade 2 listed officer’s mess rooms in Carlton Place Southampton.

As is customary, Hon. Secretary Chris Clark of Ely Langley Greig Chartered Surveyors conducted the business of the evening, Denise Bull of Dutton Gregory Solicitors delivered the Chair’s report of 2018 with some 30 events over the year, which included the Autumn Ball when almost £9,000 was raised for our chosen Charity, the Southampton based Society of St James for the Homeless. 2018 Treasurer Richard Huffer of Daniells Harrison Chartered Surveyors reported to the members that the Association was in good financial health.

Denise was re-installed as the 2019 Chair and Joe Walker of Vail Williams Property Consultants took on the post of 2019 Vice Chair as Vicky Mant, taking a new job away, steps down from office. Steve Fahy of Working Capital Specialists became the 2019 Treasurer, but with Richard Huffer continuing to run the finances until Steve is better from illness. Nella Pang of JLL Real Estate remains as Immediate Past Chair.

A collection was held during the evening for St James, to whom we also gave food for their meal that night.

The Association was founded in 1948 and continues to grow, currently having around 440 members, drawn from the Property Professions in Southampton and District.
