Steve Fahy - 29th November 1957 - 14th October 2019

Steve joined the SPA committee in 2017, having been a member of the Association for several years. His previous background was as a commercial lending manager with Lloyds Bank, but on leaving the Bank he had set up Working Capital Specialists Limited, arranging commercial property loans.

Steve had a brilliant mind and was a valued team member at the SPA annual quiz. He was blessed with a wonderful dry sense of humour and was a caring and compassionate individual and a dear friend to those who knew him. He was appointed SPA Treasurer when Richard Huffer indicated that he wished to step down after many years in the office.

Steve was diagnosed in the autumn of 2018, however, with lymphoma and then with a stomach tumour, which resulted in him undergoing six very tough rounds of chemotherapy, and Richard therefore graciously offered to cover as Vice Treasurer for another year in Steve’s absence.

This summer, it appeared that Steve was on the road to recovery and indeed he began to attend SPA committee meetings once more. Tragically, however, in September, he was diagnosed with a secondary cancer, which proved to be inoperable.

Our thoughts are with Steve’s wife Julie, and family.
