A Phenomenal £10,000 raised for Hampshire and Isle Of Wight Air Ambulance
Last Friday (26th Jan) we visited the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to present them with a cheque for £10,000. A big well done to our members for the incredible effort in raising much needed funds for a such worthy cause. A big thank you to Lucy Butcher and the team at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance for the tour of the base and helicopter, which was real eye opener and further cemented just how important this service is to our region which relies on solely charitable donations. If any members would like to get involved in fund raising or attend any fund raising events please contact them via their website: https://www.hiowaa.org/
Another successful year for the Southampton Property Association
Over 50 members turned out on Monday evening for the 76th Annual General Meeting of Southampton Property Association, held within the delightful Grade 2 listed officer’s mess rooms in Carlton Place Southampton. As is customary, Hon. Secretary Chris Clark of Ely Langley Greig Chartered Surveyors conducted the business of the evening, Chair Emma Bartlett of TMT Legal delivered her report for 2022 which with some 21 events over the year, which culminated with the Autumn Charity Ball, She was happy to report that from the various events held during the year £10,000 was raised for our chosen charity, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. A new year brings a new charity and the association has chosen, SCRATCH, who provide services which relieve the effects of hardship, disadvantage and poverty for individuals and families living in Southampton and the surrounding area. Treasurer Chris Orr (Design Chapel/Fruitful Studio) reported to the members that the Association was in good financial health. Attendees were then introduced to Annabel Huffer from Eddisons as the new Junior Liaison Officer, to encourage the next generation of property professionals to be part of the association through various events. Emma was re-installed as the 2023 Chair and Rupi Basi of RB Personal Finance took on the post of 2023 Vice Chair. The evening concluded with a very interesting and informed presentation by Helen Carr, Professor of Property Law and Social Justice at the University of Southampton. The Association was founded in 1948 and continues to grow, currently having around 400 members, drawn from the Property Professions in Southampton and District.

Thank you from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance
On behalf of everybody at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, our patients and their families, thank you for the incredible amount raised at the Southampton Property Association Ball. £4,305,53 is amazing and will go a long way to supporting the work of our critical care Doctors and Paramedics. For the past 15, years support from people like you has given our patients the best possible chance at life. The chance of a future. When our patients and their families need us most, you help put us there. Whether it’s by the bedside or at the roadside, we will be there for them. Our teams of doctors, paramedics, pilots and dispatch assistants have now responded to more than 15,000 calls for help since we began flying back in 2007. As a vital member of our team, none of those missions would have been possible without you on board. In November your Air Ambulance was called out to 176 emergency missions. We were recently called out to Jim when he was hit by a car as he was riding his bike near Andover. Due to the severity of his injuries, Jim sadly died shortly after arriving at hospital. Because of the interventions of our air ambulance crew, however, Jim was able to be taken to hospital while still alive. This meant his wish for the donation of his organs, including heart valves and tissue, liver and kidneys, could be granted. His daughter Emma told us: “I’ve got no doubt whatsoever that Dad had the absolute best care. Every possible chance was given to him, but his injuries were just too severe. We always knew about the Air Ambulance but didn’t realise it relied on donations. We will never be able to show enough gratitude for what the team did for him. Support from people like you will hopefully mean another family doesn’t have to go through what we’ve been through.” Thank you for standing shoulder to shoulder with us and the patients and their families who so desperately need our help. You are a lifesaver. If you could please extend our thanks to all of the committee and your membership for the ongoing support everyone has shown. Wishing you and your colleagues a very Healthy and Happy Christmas. Warmest wishes Lucy Lucy Butcher Support Engagement Officer Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance
Steele Raymond welcomes new partner and head of property litigation
South Coast solicitors Steele Raymond have announced the appointment of specialist property litigator David Crockford, as the Bournemouth-based firm continues to expand its leading Property Group. David, who joins Steele Raymond as a partner and head of property litigation after four years at Foot Anstey in Southampton, brings a wealth of commercial property litigation expertise to an already outstanding team, consisting of Legal 500 ‘Rising Star’ solicitor Laura Offer and Legal 500 recommended partner, Hannah Dare. The team is described by the 2023 edition of the Legal 500 as ‘dynamic [,] with an in-depth insight into the needs of their clients’. David qualified as a solicitor into top 50 UK law firm Blake Morgan’s property litigation team, where he developed specialisms in a range of commercial and residential property disputes prior to his time at Foot Anstey, where he specialised in commercial landlord and tenant work and resolving disputes in the residential development sector. Speaking on his decision to join Steele Raymond, David said: “My key motivation for the move to Steele Raymond was the opportunity to lead and develop this high-quality Property Litigation Team.” He continued: “The firm is very well thought of across the South Coast region. There is a clear desire to keep moving forward and to take all of its legal teams to the next level. The Partnership’s approach, and their plans for future growth within the South West and beyond, were extremely attractive and match my own ambitions.” David’s arrival marks an evolution for the firm’s property litigation offering, which now sits as the fourth arm of its highly regarded 35-strong Property Group. In addition to David’s appointment, the Group has recently welcomed specialist commercial property partner Martin Logan and residential development partner Christine Kessler-Robinson, both from Blake Morgan. In even more positive news for the Group, Steele Raymond was recently nominated for ‘Property Law Firm of the Year’ at both the South Coast Property Awards and the South West Property Awards. Chris Twaits, partner and Head of the firm’s Commercial Property Team, commented on David’s appointment, saying: “David’s arrival is yet another critical piece of the overarching growth strategy for our Property Group. In the past twelve months we have shown that we can attract the very best property solicitors to the South Coast from some of the region’s most recognisable legal brands. “David has proven his abilities prior to his arrival at Steele Raymond and adds an additional level of expertise to an already fantastic and accomplished Property Litigation Team.” If you would like to find out more about Steele Raymond’s Property Group, please contact Chris Twaits on 01202 294 566 or email christwaits@steeleraymond.co.uk.
